For anyone who enjoys cycling and especially downhill then a trip to Arimbo just outside São Brás de Alportel over the weekend of the 9th & 10th of April 2022 to watch competitors in this stage of the Taça de Portugal Downhill 2022 is highly recommended. This event brings the best National and International athletes in the sport to this technically challenging track.
Arimbo is situated on the edge of the Serra do Caldeirão in the beautiful Algarve countryside just a few kilometres from São Brás de Alportel and with the competition track being just over 1.8 kilometres in length, there are plenty of places for spectators to enjoy watching the competitors as they tackle the steep descents, sharp curves and jumps. Refreshments are available both down next to the finishing line and there is a beer/soft drink stall halfway up the hill: I would recommend bringing something to sit on if you plan to stay to watch the event for any length of time and sensible shoes are a must! The 9th is qualifying and the 10th is race day.
The organisation of this stage of the Portuguese Downhill Cup is once again the result of the partnership between X Dream Blasius Association: A sports Association based in Sao Bras de Alportel together with the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and the Portuguese Cycling Federation. The event is expertly organised and run by an extremely dedicated team.
